VILLA SAN BASTIANO
FOGAZZARO

The art of quiet luxury

"Home is a place where memory, faith, love and landscape become inseparable."
Antonio Fogazzaro

"Among the hills, villas, and meadows of Vicenza, every place holds a memory and every landscape seems to have a soul."

Stay

An effortless blend of heritage and luxury living, the villa combines historic charm with modern comfort.

Equipped with contemporary amenities—including air conditioning, a fully fitted gourmet kitchen, and a stunning swimming pool with panoramic views directly over neighbourly Villa Valmarana Ai Nani and the hills beyond, the villa accommodates up to 12 guests in refined comfort.

It features four double bedrooms with private en-suite bathrooms, as well as two twin bedrooms with in-room washbasins and two shared adjacent bathrooms. Most twin rooms can be converted into doubles upon request. Elegant reception spaces include a dining room and a spacious living room with a fireplace, both opening directly onto the gardens.

"Our land, our home, were always there, silent and friendly,
gently watching us grow...”

Maria Teresa Ceschi a Santa Croce Roi

History

This exceptional 600 sqm villa is set in a privileged hillside position overlooking the enchanting “Little Silent Valley,” a name first given by its most distinguished original owner, renowned 19th-century Italian author Antonio Fogazzaro. The original family residence once stood on this historic site before being tragically destroyed during World War II.

In 1952, the present owners, the Ceschi a Santa Croce family—direct descendants of the Fogazzaro family, constructed the present villa, designed by renowned Italian architect Francesco Gnecchi Ruscone, faithfully reviving the refined atmosphere and cultural elegance that once defined this extraordinary location. Over the decades, it has continued to welcome a discreet circle of illustrious guests and creative figures, including Cecil Beaton, Prince Michael of Kent, Joseph Losey, Natalie Wood, Jack Palance, Albert Finney, Geza Anda, Rudolf Nureyev and Salvador Dali, and many others drawn to its unique sense of place and timeless sophistication.

“It was the hour that stirs the heart... when distant memories and ghosts arise, softening the soul and making it sigh in silence.”

Testimonials

Villa Fogazzaro San Bastiano was an incredible place to stay. The location is amazing, the view is breathtaking every time. The pool was so nice. The host was super helpful, kind, and flexible and answered any questions we had. The house is very nice and had plenty of space for our large group. This felt like a once in a lifetime experience but we would definitely stay here again if we come back to Vicenza. Thank you for a lovely place to stay!

Emma
